We had our first bargaining session of 2025, and our ninth overall session with UFCW Local 324, the union representing our Orange County-based AMAs.
The language in the first contract is often foundational and used in future contracts, so it’s important that we work with the union to reach a clear contract that best supports our represented staff while ensuring the sustainability of our organization.
WHAT WE COVERED
We continued to bargain in good faith and were able to discuss a number of items in our session. Given that we are working through the economic aspects of the contract, the bargaining is more nuanced, and we are experiencing more back-and-forth, which we anticipated.
We have several items that we are close to reaching a tentative agreement on:
- Union representatives/stewards
- Holiday procedures
- Subcontracting circumstances
- Length of term of the contract
We look forward to ongoing negotiations in 2025 and remain hopeful we will be able to reach an agreement about the outstanding items in the contract.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
We have two additional bargaining sessions scheduled on January 23 and February 12. We are hopeful that we are getting close to a final contract for the bargaining unit to vote on.
