Today, we had our eighth bargaining session with UFCW Local 324, the union representing our Orange County-based AMAs. This is our last scheduled bargaining session in 2024.
At this point in the process, we’ve discussed every component of the contract. While we have work remaining to reach tentative agreements in every area, we believe we have made good progress toward negotiating a contract that best supports our staff and aligns with the values of our organization.
WHAT WE COVERED
Negotiating the economic aspects of the contract requires more back and forth, which we anticipated. However, our sessions continue to be productive, and we are bargaining in good faith to reach a thoughtful contract that supports our staff, patients and the sustainability of the organization.
In today’s session we reached tentative agreements on the following topics:
- Temporary employees
- Layoffs
- Posting of work schedules
- Process and eligibility for merit increases
- Process for addressing staffing concerns
Additionally, both PPOSBC and the union had submitted a number of counter proposals, and we had productive discussions around the following topics:
- Offsite parking grace period
- Unpaid time off for union business
- Wage rates
- Bilingual differential
- Subcontracting
- Modifications to the job classifications of the unit
- Management rights
We look forward to ongoing negotiations in the new year.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
We have two additional bargaining sessions scheduled on January 8 and 23. If we need additional sessions beyond that, we will schedule them.
