Earlier today, we participated in our sixth bargaining session with UFCW Local 324, the union representing our Orange County-based AMAs, to offer our counterproposals on issues related to pay and benefits.
Throughout the negotiation process, our goal has been to bargain in good faith and take into consideration the best interests of not only the bargaining unit, but also our entire team and the patients we serve, as well as to ensure our ability to carry out the important work we do.
It is especially critical in more uncertain periods, like the one we find ourselves in following the recent presidential election, that we be smart, strategic and thoughtful about how we balance each of these things.
WHAT WE COVERED
Our counterproposals to what the union set forth are in line with our history and ongoing practice of providing excellent pay and benefits to our everyone on the PPOSBC team.
As with any change that affects our staff, and our operations, it’s imperative we conduct a thoughtful review of all relevant data and information, so the decisions we make are sustainable in the long term, and best support our patients, our communities and our staff.
We also strive to be fair, and to honor the valuable contributions of everyone across our organization. And, we feel confident our counterproposals do just that:
- Continuing our history of fairly evaluating the market conditions and staff performance and basing annual increases on those elements;
- Continuing to provide generous vacation, sick, and other time off to ensure our staff is rested and has a healthy work-life balance;
- Continuing to pay additional hourly differentials for certain additional elements of an individual’s work contributions for things like translation/interpretation skill, floating from site to site, providing lead and/or training to other employees, and more.
WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
Upcoming bargaining sessions will be on December 5 and 20. We’ll resume in the new year on January 8 and 23.
